A CLIMATE FICTION PITCH EVENT
9-18-25 | BLUESKY

Solarpunk Magazine Climate Fiction Pitch Event (#ClifiPit)

UPDATE: DUE TO A LACK OF RESPONSE FROM PUBLISHERS, WE’RE POSTPONING #CLIFIPIT IN ORDER TO CONTINUE BUILDING A PROGRAM THAT IS WORTH PARTICIPATION BY AUTHORS. THANK YOU FOR UNDERSTANDING.

We’re thrilled to announce our first-ever #ClifiPit event, an all-day pitch extravaganza exclusively for climate fiction authors! Whether your story explores the dystopian consequences and horror of climate disaster, the hopeful possibilities of a sustainable future, or a mix of genres that ties into climate themes, this pitch event is designed for and dedicated to you.

To be clear, this is not a pitch event for Solarpunk Magazine. This event is a service we’re providing that is all about you finding editors, agents, and publishers for your climate fiction work. More broadly, it’s about highlighting climate fiction and its value to readers, the book industry, and the world.

No registration is required for authors to participate in #ClifFiPit. However, filling out the short form below helps us gauge how many authors are planning to be part of the event.

Agent, Editor, Publisher Registration

If you are an editor, agent, or publisher who’s interested in our #CliFiPit event on BlueSky, then please hit the button below and fill out the short form. This helps us keep track of how many industry reps are planning to participate, and helps give authors confidence in their own participation. It also gives us a way to contact you with more information and participation guidelines to make sure you’re prepared on the day of the pitch event.

Event Guidelines for Authors

  1. Eligibility: Only pitch completed and polished manuscripts.
  2. Pitch Structure:
    • Each pitch must fit within 280 characters and include:
      • A compelling hook.
      • The genre and/or age category.
      • The stakes or central conflict.
    • Example:
A flooded Earth. A stolen spaceship. A teen must reach Mars before the greedy corporation that destroyed her planet catches up. #ClifiPit #YA #SciFi #CliFi
  3. Frequency:
    • Authors may post 3 unique pitches per manuscript throughout the day, spaced at least 2 hours apart, plus a final repost of your favorite pitch at the end of the day.
  4. Hashtag Use:
    • Because all work pitched during this event is required to be climate fiction, there is no need to include #Clifi as a genre tag in your pitch posts.
    • But you should definitely use #ClifiPit in your pitch posts. This is the hashtag publishers, editors, and agents will use find and browse your pitch posts.
    • Also include other genre, age-specific tags, and other community tags you feel are appropriate to you and the work you are pitching (e.g., #SciFi, #MG, #Romance, #BIPOC, etc).
  5. Likes on Posts are Reserved:
    • ONLY agents and editors/publishers may “like” pitches. This is how they indicate interest. If you’re an’t an agent, editor, or publisher and you like a post, you’re only making more work for the author to sift through the likes to find the agents and publishers who responded
  6. Support Engagement:
    • Writers are encouraged to boost each other’s pitches by reposting or commenting, but again DO NOT “like” pitches unless you are an agent/editor/publisher.
