City of Hope RPG Character Archetype Sneak Peek

We’re only three weeks away from the October 1st launch of our crowd funder for CITY OF HOPE, a solarpunk worldbuilding RPG. The campaign will help fund Solarpunk Magazine’s 2025 run of issues.

Set in the 2050s after the Climate Wars, players work together to create and rebuild a new, sustainable, inclusive city and community rooted in environmental and social justice. The gamebook is over 100 pages of setting, backstory, characters books, gameplay scenarios, art, and more.

There are a number of solarpunk archetypes included in the gamebook which players can use to build their character. We’re excited to bring you the first sneak peek of one of those character archetypes.

The Beekeeper tends honeybees, bumblebees, mason bees, sweat bees, watching over their hives while they travel to different pastures to pollinate the city. They’re experts in all things honey from harvesting it to its various uses such as cooking, making medicinal salves, brewing honey wine, making candy and more. The Beekeeper’s relationship with the bee and their knowledge of the geometry of hives and honeycomb is almost mystical in nature. They believe human communities can learn a lot from bee social behavior and hive organization.

Like most games in the lineage of Powered by the Apocalypse, CITY OF HOPE uses character books that give players information about he character and customization options. Players can customize the Beekeeper by making choices regarding their character’s name, gender, clothing, style, items, go-to actions, and more.
