We invite you to participate in an innovative online project crafting a vivid, sustainable world through the power of collective imagination. Solarpunk envisions a future where society lives in harmony with the planet, using technology for the betterment of the environment and humanity. This project is not just about dreaming of a greener future—it’s about designing it, one step at a time.
How It Works
Each week, we post a new set of polls with questions designed to flesh out different aspects of our emerging solarpunk world. From the energy sources that power our cities to the ways in which we govern, from our cultural expressions to technological advancements, your votes and comments directly shape this evolving solarpunk world as well as future poll questions.
Every two months, our highly advanced Generative AhI (All-human Intelligence) System will create vivid prose and art describing and depicting the aspects of our solarpunk world we’ve collectively decided on over the previous months.
These write ups and art will be released first to our Patreon supporters to show them gratitude for their financial support of Solarpunk Magazine and the work we do. But after a week they will each be published here on our website and available for free to all.

Yes, our Patreon has paid subscriber tiers. But you don’t have to pay anything to participate in this project. Week 1 Poll Set
Welcome to the very first of our weekly poll sets for the collective Solarpunk World-Building Project. We’re so excited that you’ve chosen to participate! This week’s polls are all geography oriented questions to help us establish some basic context for our world building.
We already know that our world is the planet Earth, and the planet Earth already has known geographical features. That means we aren’t starting from complete scratch. But we are building a new society, and that society exists somewhere on the planet.
We won’t be setting our society in any particular nation-state, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t still a number of geographical questions for us to consider so we can establish some basic context for our new solarpunk society.
Some of the questions overlap with others to various degrees. At this stage, try not to get bogged down by those details and whether or not anything seems contradictory. It will work out once the votes are tallied!
