Solarpunk Futures Podcast Launches

Our podcast, Solarpunk Futures, will feature story and poetry readings from the issues we publish, as well as discussions of our nonfiction articles and things are going in here in the present day to create a new, sustainable world.

The first episode of Solarpunk Futures is now available through Acast.

We’re in the process of getting the podcast distributed to Spotfy, itunes, YouTube, etc. But since this is the first episode it will be a couple-few days for the distribution to get worked out.

In the meantime, you can listen here.

Kickstarter Updates

The big news is that our campaign has been approved, and the prelaunch page is now active! Head over to our prelaunch page today and sign up to get notified by Kickstarter the moment our campaign launches on October 1st.

Why sign up for that notification?

Because we have some amazing perk packages, and many of them are limited to only a certain number of backers. We’re excited to share with you some more of the Grade A perks we’re putting together for our Kickstarter campaign. In our last update we talked about the signed book by solarpunk legend Alaya Dawn Johnson, as well as the meet & greet literary giant Nisi Shawl.

This week we want to talk about our bread and butter perk, the
Annual Subscription Package.

For only $25 you get to be a part of building the future. You also get a one year digital subscription to Solarpunk Magazine, a huge 30% discount off the individual issue price. You also get access to the Solarpunk Magazine Community Discord Server, a short story pack of unpublished stories written by Solarpunk Magazine editors, ebook copies of Children of Arkadia and Retrolithic Idyll, access to our custom solarpunk playlist, your name in the Thank You section of Issue 01, AND a time lapse video of the production of one of our cover art pieces. Seriously, all that for only $25.

We have other great perk packages too. Among them is an Oregon Writer’s Retreat.

This perk will be available to backers at the $500 level or higher. In addition to all the stuff in the annual subscription package, you’ll get a solitary writer’s retreat or couple’s vacation for up to 5 nights in rural Oregon’s stunningly beautiful Willamette Valley. You’ll say in a new 30 foot camper with slide outs and full amenities. You’ll meet the founder and co-EIC of Solarpunk Magazine & Black Cat Magazine, fall asleep to the sounds of the meandering river that’s just 50 feet from your door. There are two recreational lakes only 2-3 miles away plus writing, reading, kayaking, floating, swimming, hiking, vineyards, and more. You’ll be only 30 minutes away from Eugene, Oregon (home of Ken Kesey and other writers), and Portland is close enough for day trips. Breakfast is included, but of course travel expenses aren’t. You can use it anytime in 2021 or 2022 (specific dates subject to availability).

Finally, we’ve got a copy of City of Refuge signed by Starhawk! City of Refuge is the sequel to Starhawk’s classic solarpunk fantasy novel, The Fifth Sacred Thing. There’s only one copy available. So if this one catches your eye, be sure to become a backer early!
